A useful tool, with clear limits.

By Abriam Downing · October 4, 2026

Rowstead is a file-preparation tool operated by Abriam Downing. You can use the free browser utility without creating an account. Keep your original data and review the output before using it in another system.

What the tool does.

Rowstead parses UTF-8 CSV and TSV, highlights selected text-format issues, and applies cleanup choices you select. The current limits are 5 MB per input, 20,000 data rows, 200 columns, and 1,000,000 cells. The parser rejects malformed quotation syntax. Delimiter detection is a heuristic; you can override it.

What needs your judgment.

Email syntax checks do not verify deliverability, identity, consent, or entitlement to contact a person. Exact duplicate checks do not merge contacts or identify a person. Formula protection changes some values and does not guarantee safe behavior in every spreadsheet. Review destination-specific requirements and use a small test import.

Your files and rights.

Only process files you are entitled to use. You retain your rights to your data and generated CSV copies. You are responsible for the cleanup choices and destination imports you perform.

The optional Import Kit.

The kit contains original reusable templates and guidance. It is offered separately through an owner-connected storefront. The storefront listing must show the final price, tax, delivery, support contact, and applicable refund terms. Until checkout is connected, this site does not take orders or payments. The suggested launch price is $12; the free utility remains free.

Availability and feedback.

The tool is provided as available, without a promise that every import will succeed. Free hosting can have service limits or outages. Use a support link if configured to report a reproducible issue without disclosing sensitive files. Nothing in this notice removes consumer rights that apply to you.
